Who Is D-Black?
D-Black (Desmond Kwesi Blackmore) is a multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper, singer, entrepreneur, and cultural tastemaker. He broke through in the early 2010s with hits like “Vera,” “Personal Person,” “Kotomoshi,” and “Seihor,” helping shape modern Ghanaian Afrobeats/urban pop with his signature fusion sound.
Beyond music, he founded Black Avenue Muzik and runs major Accra nightlife brands including Club Onyx, Club ICON, and Oasis Lounge. He also supports communities through the Desmond Blackmore Foundation.
Born in Accra, Ghana, he began his career in a group (2008–2010), then went solo—landing a #1 album and a 2011 BET Awards nomination (Best International Act). His fans span Afrobeats and hip-hop lovers, and he enjoys both live performance and the online space.
